Arminio wins Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik

Arminio, the Parnassus production of the Handel opera for stage and CD, has just received the prestigious Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (which curiously translates to "Award of the German record critics").
The institution, established in 1963, consists of critics from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who meet quarterly to assess the quality of new musical releases, on what medium they may come along (not limited to vinyl discs, like the name may suggest).

The CD Arminio has been released by Decca Classics in March 2016. It has been produced by Parnassus Arts Productions with the following cast of singers: Max Emanuel Cencic (as Arminio), Layla Claire (as Tusnelda), Vince Yi (as Sigismondo), Ruxandra Donose (as Ramise), Juan Sancho (as Varo), Xavier Sabata (as Tullio) and Petros Magoulas. Armonia Atenea plays original instruments from the period, conducted by George Petrou.

Max Emanuel Cencic knighted!

We are delighted to learn about the decision of the French Ministry of Culture and Communcation, to make Max Emanuel Cencic a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Here you see the letter of congratulations by the French embassador, Mr. Pascal Teixeira da Silva, in which he calls the decision a sign of the respect, Max Emanuel Cencic enjoys in his country, as well as an appreciation of his extraordinary artistic talent.

And the Echo Klassik 2016 goes to Catone in Utica!

Great news:
ECHO Klassik for Leonardo Vinci's Catone in Utica with Max Emanuel Cencic, Franco Fagioli, Il Pomo d'Oro, Juan Sancho, Valer Sabadus, Vince Yi, Martin Mitterrutzner and Riccardo Minasi!
The CD by the same name was released by Decca, and both CD and performance production were produced by Parnassus Arts Productions.
The award ceremony will take place on 9 October, 2016, at Konzerthaus Berlin hosted by Thomas Gottschalk.

Germanico in Germania: CD-recording from July 23rd to August 1st

The recording onto CD of the opera by Nicola Antonio Porpora, Germanico in Germania, is just taking place. It started on July 23rd and will continue until August 1st, 2016.

The story centers on the battle of the Germans, led by Germanico, against the Romans. Segeste instigates a treachery, and Arminio gets punished for it by imprisonment.

In our production, the title-role (which is the forgiving Germanico) is sung by Max Emanuel Cencic. The parts of Ersinda and Arminio are prominently cast as well, with Julia Lezhneva and Mary-Ellen Nesi. The tenor part of Segeste is performed by Juan Sancho, the soprano part of Rosmonda by the very young Dilyara Idrisova, and the part of Cecina (which was originally intended for a countertenor as well) by Hasnaa Bennani. Jan Tomasz Adamus conducts the orchestra Capella Cracoviensis.

The CD Germanico in Germania will be released in February 2017.
A concert tour will start on March 30th, 2017.

See here an interview with M. E. Cencic about his involvement in the production of Germanico in Germania,
and here an excerpt from the aria Questo e Il Valor Guerriero.

Ottone: CD-recording finished

OTTONE, the opera by G. F. Handel, has been recorded onto CD from June 20th to 30th, 2016.
The story is centered on the Kaiser Otto II, who, in an attempt to further understanding between the East and West part of the Roman Empire, married the Byzantine princess Teofane in 972.

In the Parnassus CD production the title role, Ottone, was sung by star countertenor Max Emanuel Cencic, and the Byzantine princess Teofane by the young American Lauren Snouffer. Also the parts of Gismonda and Adalberto were prominently cast, namely by Ann Hallenberg and Xavier Sabata. The bass role of Emireno was performed by Pavel Kudinov, the alto role of Matilda by the very young Anna Starushkevyc. George Petrou conducted the (again young) orchestra Il Pomo d'oro.

The CD OTTONE will hit the market on May 2017.
The concert tour will start on July 7th, 2017.

CD Arminio:
worldwide release now!

March 11th saw the release of the CD Arminio through Decca. Handel's opera about the German hero Hermann, who led the successful resistance against the Roman empire, has never been very popular. This seems to change now, with the new Parnassus production, in which Max Emanuel Cencic sings the title role and functions as stage director. Read here what KLASSIKAKZENTE.DE says about the production.
